There was a good turn out last Saturday for the Coastal Championship. twenty dinghies and three Falcons took part, joined in the second race by six Fireflys from Liverpool University. The weather could not have been kinder to us, with sunny and warm conditions with a force 1 to 2 allowing for 3 races back to back on the estuary. Saturday was probably one of the best summers day we have had this year!
Congratulation to all who took part and to the prize winners: Novice fleet 1st - Lightning 2 - Judith Carter 2nd - Lightning 9 - Amy Watkins Slow Handicap 1st RS Feva 7 - Tom Underwood & Amara Geuts 2nd RS Feva 3792 - Eve Bromilow & Sophie Gatenby Fast Handicap 1st - Solo 5807 - Andy Carter 2nd - Phantom 1456 - Andrew Potter 3rd - GP14 19 - Trevor Jenkins crewed by Sally Bromilow. Huge congratulations to the Nixon family who won the most coveted "Perseverance Trophy". Not only were they very consistent with their race results, but they also came third in the Falcon fleet. Fantastic!! There were also 7 Lasers who sailed on Saturday, making it a good turn out for Mid October. Sunday however, could not have been more different and not surprisingly all racing was cancelled. Although the wind was deceivingly light at first, the wind quickly picked up, and the weather stations eventually recorded a highest gust of 57.4 knots. A bit too much really. This was the last race on the tide for 2024, the first race in 2025 on the tide will be in mid January. Do not be put off by this date in the winter, the weather being as crazy at it has been, we may be looking at sailing in shorts and T shirts.. See you on the water. Jean-Louis |

Remembrance Sunday If anyone would like to help out with road marshalling on Remembrance Sunday on Grange Hill, can you please contact Andy Brown on: andyjbrown555@gmail.com The Galley on Friday This week Helen Brown is providing a delicious menu. Please come down and support and join in with the 200 Club. Snooker As the days draw in and sailing opportunities reduce, the club offers alternative ways to while away the dark evenings. The snooker table has been moved upstairs to the Wilson Room where the game can be played in splendid isolation! All members are of course welcome to play at any time (20ps are required for the light meter). We play snooker matches, home & away, against kindred clubs Hoylake, Wallasey and Dee plus billiards against Hoylake.... Additional fixtures are being contemplated. Last year we enjoyed an unbeaten season which was very rare and extremely satisfying. Some of the trophies date back almost 100 years.
Practice takes place on Thursday evenings from 7.30 and, again, all members are welcome to come along. It is informal, with plenty of chat and the occasional drink and whilst some are better than others, keen foursomes matches ensue, in a light hearted manner….its even better if you draw a good player! Please just let us know if you want to come along and/or we can add you to the WKSC Snooker WhatsApp group for news and updates etc. Dates of Home Team Matches:- 13/11/2024 -v- Hoylake SC 20/11/2024 -v- Wallasey SC 05/03/2025 -v- Hoylake SC (Billiards) 19/03/2025 -v- Dee SC
