WKSC Code of Conduct
1. Opening Statement
West Kirby Sailing Club expects that all members and their guests will show respect and understanding to each other, treat everyone equally with dignity and respect; and conduct themselves in a way that reflects the principles of the club.
Abusive, aggressive or discriminatory language or behaviour, or lack of respect for other people and their property or property of West Kirby Sailing Club will not be tolerated. Misconduct should be reported using Section 46 of the General Rules in the members handbook. This may then lead to disciplinary action in accordance with West Kirby Sailing Clubs Disciplinary procedures. |
2. About this Code of Conduct
This Code sets out the behavioural standards that are expected of members. The Club aims for all members to: 2.1 To enjoy safe participation, without fear of abuse or harm. 2.2 Be treated with respect and dignity. 2.3 Not to be discriminated against. 2.4 To feel able to raise complaints and concerns easily and without fear of reprisal. A breach of this code may result in disciplinary action being taken by West Kirby Sailing Club General Committee. All Complaints should be reported to the Hon. Secretary in writing without delay (Section 46 members handbook). |
3. Behaviour we Expect
- Abide by the rules and policies of the Club as adopted from time to time. - Treat others fairly, and with respect and dignity, including all officials, volunteers, instructors, coaches, irrespective of their identity, both in person and when communicating online. - Be welcoming to everyone. - Encourage a culture of inclusivity. - Encourage positive and constructive feedback. - Recognise and respect the contribution made by West Kirby Sailing Club volunteers and encourage people to play a full role in the organisation. - Embrace the RYA Racing Charter and RYA Sail Clean. - Understand their role in supporting the culture and success of the WKSC. - Accept responsibility for their actions and conduct. - Use the Club established procedures to raise a concern. |
4. Unacceptable Behaviour
Engage in any abusive, threatening bullying or inappropriate behaviour towards anyone at the organisation or allow this behaviour to go unchecked and unreported. Use inappropriate or discriminatory language or behaviour towards participants of the organisation, including, but not limited to; sexually suggestive behaviour/language, unwanted/unnecessary physical contact and language or conduct intending to intimidate or threaten individuals. Engage in any form of sexual harassment. Engage in any form of behaviour that may bring the Club, or the RYA, into disrepute. Attempt to silence, intimidate or disregard, anyone who wishes to raise a concern |
5. Reporting & Disciplinary action
Conduct that makes you feel uncomfortable should be reported to either: - The Hon. Secretary - section 46 member handbook; honsec@wksc.org.uk or - Safeguarding and Welfare Committee named officers section 29 of the members handbook - safeguarding@wksc.org.co.uk Any breach of this code may be dealt with in accordance with the organisations own disciplinary process. |
