Belgian Waffle.. Nothing much to waffle about this week, except the very successful start of Tony Marstons introduction to racing course. I hear there are now more than 70 members signed up!! This is a very exciting addition to our training programme. I wish them every success and hope to see all very soon on the starting line. If anyone has not seen the Louis Vuitton final, well I can tell you that you missed some amazing match racing. I have asked for the America cup starting on Saturday to be shown on the big screen in the main room. The racing starts is on from 1-3pm on Saturday and 1-4pm on Sunday. Come down and watch the racing, subject to the weather in Barcelona of course, it should be worth it. Safe sailing everyone. Jean-Louis |

Training |
On Saturday morning 54 people attended the first session to Tonys Introduction to Racing which covered the first four basic rules of racing using footage from the Americas Cup. The format of the sessions was discussed along with resources required and from this it was decided to split the training into the following three groups: Juniors led by Mike Hartley, with the majority of training to take place in Fevas. Adult Introduction to Racing led by Tony Marston for adults who are confident on the water and are new to racing, either in their own boats or various club boats. And last but not least the RYA improvers course led by the Training Department. This will be for adults who are less confident on the water or have just completed a beginners course this year. Club boats will be used for this course. All the above will take place on Saturday mornings and we hope you will joins us after the debrief for a pint and pie in the bar. (Please dont forget to pre-order your pie before you go out on the water). With 75 people involved, we are looking forward to a fun, busy autumn/winter on the water while improving sailing skills. |
