Belgian Waffle... The Regatta weekend was not blessed with the best of weather. Ominously, we started off with a postponement of The Illusion Regatta due to take place on the Friday 28th June. Onto the 4 day Regatta Series; Thursday was blown off and Saturday's Dee SC Regatta was also cancelled. On a more positive note, those who took part in Friday's long distance race reported great sailing conditions, across the River Dee, up river towards Flint and back. Finally, Sunday's racing took place in idyllic conditions. Congratulations to all prize winners, and my thanks must go to all who helped with the organisation of this 4 day event. We now turn our attention to the next events. The Lightning Open Meeting will take place on the lake on Saturday 20th July and Sunday 21st. The Falcons hold their championship at Wallasey YC on the 27th July and we will be running a one day WKSC regatta at Beaumaris, as part of the Menai Straits fortnight, on the Wednesday 14th August. The club will also be running a week of summer fun sailing starting on Monday 12th August. Busy times ahead. Le Waffleur. Jean-Louis Simons Acting Commodore. |
