A View from the Bridge |
I hope you all enjoyed the summer break, and now are enjoying the return to good old fashioned crazy British weather? I'm currently wearing one welly and one flip flop....
Glad to see that lots of sailing was to be had in foreign waters and more local climes. I went out to sunnier climes and was sailing Darts in Thailand and later doing what can only be described as a Night NAVEX in Hong Kong Harbour and through the neighbouring islands, including getting followed by the Hong Kong Maritime Police off Sai Kung... stop in the water, turn all you lights on, show them we're not who they thought we might be.... and they left us alone. Still all a bit tense/odd, to be sure! Back to reality with a thud. The last races of a fantastic season are still to be sailed and many Trophies still up for grabs! Many thanks to all the Sailing Team who have worked so hard to keep us on the water, your reward is in the numbers which are showing so many more people on the water this year! Thank you from all of us! On the Social side, we are going to open the Club up on Thursday night and put the big screen down, West Kirby Lifeboat are on 'Saving Lives at Sea'. You might see some familiar faces. We have invited the Lifeboat Crew in to watch, hopefully it will be a good night. We have the Ceildh coming up in the Boatshed in two weeks, Sunday 21st at 4pm, Tickets behind the bar. This was a great day last time. The last hussar for the Summer Pavilion, before it is dismantled and returned into a Hilbre and Star life-support system, aka The Boatshed. Early October (4th) sees the Annual Ball at the Club. Dinner by Cheeky Chilli followed by wine and laughter, the chink of glasses, dancing late into the night and wistful stares across the moonlit river to the romantic lights of Mostyn Docks. Tickets for sale online, book early to avoid disappointment! Chris |
