| A View from the Bridge |
| Many thanks to all the Yard Cleaners - a Saturday morning push has made the Boatyard look spectacular! The gang were rewarded with soup and sandwiches, I think you will agree, it was a well earned reward.
The Christmas Fayre was incredible - we didn't keep count, but hundreds of people filed through, to peruse the stores and stopped for tea and cake. Thank you to Pam, Jennie and Clare for keeping them fed and watered and the rest of the House team for running the event. From cards to bespoke Chocolates and wood turning to bracelets we had it all! A special thanks to those who stood on the Membership Desk, David, Graham and Jean selling the Club and it's Training! Thursday night's Shanties were fun. About 25 of us, accompanied by Liz on the flute and Alan on the Squeeze Box (sorry, I can't spell Accordion), did jigs, call-backs and some traditional English/Irish. I can publish a play list for Spotify or people can look them up on YouTube, if people fancy? - But failing that, we just put the words up and aim for the tune as best you can with volume - they're designed to be sung on the windy deck of a schooner, not the Vienna State! This Thursday sees Tony Marston unveil his Mirror Project to the Club. It's an ambitious project but with Tony's enthusiasm I am sure he can make it happen. If you are interested in getting involved or just want come, down it will be a great talk. Chris |

| Training |
| Whats been happening in Training On Saturday, Ollie Hall & myself headed to the RYA Connected Conference in Halifax to deliver a half an hour work shop on Developing your volunteer Senior Instructor team. This opportunity arose as the RYA had never had seven members of the same club attend the senior instructor course & they wanted us to tell our story, to the other clubs in the North Region, of how this had come about & what the impact had been at the club. Ollie & I were very surprised to see a classroom full of delegates for our workshop & how many clubs were interested in how this had led to the development of the One to One Sailing, Lets Launch and the flexibility of having a large pool of senior instructors to spread the training sessions & match to the different age groups that the club trains. The whole team are amazing in the number of hours they put into Training not only in the delivery of courses but all the other jobs which run alongside, such as boat & rib maintenance, administration, providing food, safety cover etc. If you are interested in becoming a sailing or power boat instructor or helping out please email Training@WKSC.org.uk Training courses for next year will be available to book online via SCM from the middle of December. Sailing Matters |
| Its a very short Sailing Matters this week, mainly because I wasn't here on Sunday heading south for a funeral of an old canoe sailing friend from Stone Sailing Club on the Blackwater estuary in Essex. Meanwhile there was racing on the lake in light airs. The Laser Class had a training session planned on the lake as well. Both events attracted positive comments of pleasure to see plenty of sailing activity.
