| Many thanks to Kay, Debbie, Tony, Mike and all the Class Captains who set up and ran the Prize Giving, I am told, it was a slick event. Apologies for not being there in person, but duty called and I was on a Bulk Carrier bringing her into Gladstone Locks. Well done to all who won! Everyone else keep trying!
This weekend we have the Hilbre AGM and hotpot and also a Yard Party! If anyone wants to lend a hand to help in the Boatyard, please come down at 10:30 on Saturday morning if you can spare an hour. Chris |

Thursday Talks and Tunes - Tomorrow 7.30pm - Music Night If you can play an instrument, carry a tune or just love music, everyone is welcome. Stars Celebrating 120 Years That is one beautiful Star In 2026, two Stars will celebrate their 120 anniversary. Carina, number 4, and Vega, number 7, first hit the water in 1906 and still are a joy to sail today. There will be many opportunities to sail in them during mid week cruises, and on the 7th June 2026, we will celebrate the 120th birthday with an afternoon of champagne and delightful company. Put this date in your diary. News from the Yard: Working party this Saturday Following on from the excellent work carried out in the yard two and four weeks ago, Id like to keep our community spirit going with another work party on Saturday 29th at 10.30. This time, I only need a dozen people or so to do a little painting and a little scrubbing. This will be in the North shed and weather permitting outside. Paint brushes etc.. will be provided. If you can spare 60 to 90 minutes once again, please send me (Jean Louis) a text. I have arranged for something hot for afters. Many thanks in advance Jean-Louis Trailers in the Yard Here are a selection of trailers, road base trailers left in our yard for years. There are no identification, nor do we know who these belong to, as they have just been dumped. WKSC is not a storage facility for dead boats, trailers, trolley or anything else for that matter. Space is at a premium, with new members eager to bring their boat and sail. Please let me know if you recognise any of these trailers, or know who they belong to. Some very much look like Laser Road base trailers. I have a scrap man interested in all our metals. He will bring a 30ft Roll On/Roll off to the club early December. If you have not picked up your trailer by the 5th December, it will be scrapped. Jean-Louis Yard manager |

Sailing Matters |
| By this time next week we will be into December. November was a busy month; especially last week with the Mirror Project Talk (for me) on Thursday evening and the Annual Prize Giving on Saturday night. Didn't the Trophies on the table ready for presentation look great… all polished up and sparkling with a string of Christmas lights adding to the effect. Celebrating our sailors successes is, as Mike Hartley, Rear Commodore Sailing, said in his introduction at the Prize Giving also celebrating all the great work that goes on behind the scenes to make the racing, results and the prize giving, happen. In a world where professional sailing is not uncommon amateur sailing clubs are still the norm and the sport is better for it ….in my opinion! When we adopt an approach of working together its not only worthwhile but very satisfying for all concerned.
The Lightnings had a weekend of training planned Sat & Sun 22&23/11/25 . The weather behaved itself on Saturday and they had a good session on the lake. Also enjoying some time on the lake on Saturday morning were a bunch of folk from the Introduction to Racing Group with no prompting from me. I think they also persuaded someone to run a race for them. More power to your elbow folks. Sadly, the following day, Sunday, the weather played up. Dee SC weather station recorded a gust of over 40kts. Needless to say there was no racing. I'm looking at the forecasts (on Tuesday night) for Saturday morning coming up (29/11/25 at 09:00 to 12:00): Met Office: 10-17 kts XCWeather: 23-33kts & 25-36kts, and Windy 4-8kts & 5-9kts. You would think after spending £Ms on weather forecasting kit they might all be a bit more in line. As usual, we will just have to wait and see till a bit nearer the time. Ditto for Sunday. Shedly Matters … steady progression. I am purposely light on detail but the Firefly MkIV project - the end bit (transom) is bonded in place and formers to take what will be the elegant side buoyancy tanks which also act as comfortable seating, are also bonded in place. Meanwhile, alongside, the Classic Finn side deck structure is taking shape. In the Summer Pavilion now the Winter Palace, work is well underway on both Stars and Hilbres. The Stars have gathered together associates who look to me to be having an enjoyable time learning the finer art of caring for classic boats. Meanwhile it might look like little was going on with the three project Mirrors last Thursday evening but the cold spell wasn't conducive to being in the shed at all let alone trying to paint in the low temperatures. Instead, the gang came to be enthused by me talking on the subject of the WKSC MIRROR PROJECT amongst 35 other members. Thank you all for attending. I hope to bring you a more detailed update on the WKSC MIRROR PROJECT next week. Suffice to say the project is developing at a pace. It needs to in order to achieve the target of 15 x Operational Mirrors at the beginning of next season with plenty of sailors, young and old to sail and race and own Mirror Dinghies at WKSC. Coming Up: Thursday 27/11/25 Evening 17:30 to 19:00 Mirror Working Group in the shed. Saturday 29/11/25 Morning 10:00 - 12:00 Introduction to Racing Group. Sunday 30/11/25 Morning Frostbite Series handicap racing First start 11:00 (Fast, Novice and Slow follow).
