Belgian Waffle.. or Gofri Belgi! Our members may not want to know that in Tarquinia, Italy, it is 28 degrees, sunny and the beer is cold!! Yesterday, at the Dart World Championship, the wind was blowing well over 20 knots with huge waves. Managed one race without annoying more than 3 Darts at the windward mark and finished 38th. In between both races, our Dart decided to try a pitch pole and after stern words form the skipper, just about stayed upright, with my crew Steve Jardine still on board. Still, I took the hint and went home. Today, lovely little breeze, but not enough to get through the surf. The organisers tried to launch a RIB without success. There was only one possible course of action available to the organisers which was to abandon the racing for today and allow all competitors to move to a bar of their choice and take refreshments. The Pirate bar is where I am typing this now. Ciao. Jean-Louis |

Price Platter - This Sunday (15th September) This Sunday, we are running the Price Platter on the lake. With a competitors briefing at 10:00 and racing starting soon after, this is a fabulous opportunity to sail a falcon against like minded competitors. The format of the event is one boat against one boat... match racing, one boat coming in from the starboard end, the other port end of the line. The aim is to control the opposition thus gaining the best start. This year we are in the midst of the 37th edition of the Americas Cup... come and be Sir Ben Ainslie for the day. We need 8 teams, can you let Mike Hartley (07704458308) know if you want to compete. You will need three people in a team, spinnakers will not be used and the centreboards will have to be either half up or half down, depending upon your perspective... The course and full starting procedure will be outlined in the sailing instructions.
