And a very happy new year to you all. 2025 started with too much wind to hold the New Years Day race, followed by snow, with another load dumped on West Kirby overnight. I sincerely hope the weather gods will be a bit nicer to us in 2025. Last year we beat all records in terms of race cancellations due to inclement weather conditions. Whilst the current series of races taking place on the lake is called The Artic Series, the early forecast for Sunday actually looks good with 10 to 15 knots from a South Easterly direction. News from the Boat Shed: Andy Hillyard is on holiday now until the 23rd January. If you have a query, please address it to the Captain, Mal Jones or Jude Stratton. WKSC will hold the Start of Year Championships on the tide on the 19th January. This event is open to all dinghy classes and Falcons. Fingers crossed for decent weather. Le Waffleur. If you have received an email invitation to the Commodore's reception, we would appreciate it if you could please reply by Friday 10th. This will allow us to firm up numbers with the caterer. 2025 Sailing Programme LAST CHANCE TO CHOOSE YOUR RACE OFFICER DUTIES Many thanks to those of you who have already entered your RO duties for 2025 but there are still more than 75 days of racing needing a RO (mainly dinghy racing - lake and tide). Please select your preferred RO dates by Friday 10th January latest, after which the remaining RO duties will be arbitrarily allocated. Thank you The Sailing Team LOST RADIOS Over the Christmas period someone appears to have lost an ICOM M37 radio. It has turned up in the Starters Box where the Club keeps its radios. This Radio is brand new so hopefully someone should have realise they have lost it. At the same time one of the Club VHF ICOM M37 Radios has gone missing complete with charger. If anyone knows who may have taken the Club Radio or lost their Christmas present please could they get in touch with Chris Riley. The absence of the Clubs Radio reduces the Clubs ability to provide support for Racing and Safety to those on the water. If you have not already received the AGM papers to your personal email address they can also be accessed as follows: (a) log in to the WKSC website (https://members.wksc.org.uk/) and choose the "2025 AGM" tab on the main menu; or (b) click here (you will still need to log in). Australia Day Come down and imagine you are on a warm beach in Oz having a BBQ! Adie, our very own Australian, will be manning the BBQ.
