Masthead 23 03 14

Published 17:56 on 15 Mar 2023

Welcome to this weeks edition of our internal newsletter, masthead.

Did it snow last week…or was it just an illusion ?

Snow does not stop play for our Illusions who still ventured out for their regular Friday sail…you can just about see the snow in the background.

It was the turn of the 420s to fly the flag last weekend at the Selector 2 & Inland Championships held at Rutland. Click on the link below for the full results - for some reason, they havent put the Clubs in the results but for reference, George & David came 5th, Arwen and Arlo 11th and Holly and Olly 14th. Well done, guys !

Have you seen the Macdona Room ?!!? WOW. Thank you so much, Graham, our new Fabrics Chairman and everyone who has helped. It is amazing what a difference you have made. It still needs furnishing but we are very nearly there.

Its the BIG Lash this weekend - Manchester and Liverpool Universities joint event. Kay and Jean-Louis have written an article on it so I wont steal their thunder other than to say please come down and watch if you can and have a chat with our brilliant University Affiliate Members.

Poppy Armstrong and Edie Rogers are off to Rutland this weekend for the first event of the IOCA sailing programme this year, the Spring Championships. Best of luck to you both and we look forward to hearing how you get on next week.

On the social side…its a big one ! Paddys Day and Super Saturday…a full day of Rugby followed by our Paddys Day Party. Come down and have a pint or two of Guinness (which might be on offer !).

Hope to see you over the weekend.

Kind regards,

Adam Whittle

Sailing Club Manager

You may, or may not, be aware that over the last year or so, we have been working on a new operating system for the Club called Sailing Club Manager.

A lot of sailing clubs around the UK currently use this system and some of you may know the creator, Jeremy Pocock.

In the medium to long-term, this system will make day-to-day operations at the Club so much more efficient and give you greater control over things like volunteering, your membership card uploads, the calendar and so much more.

We are going live today ! But…as with any launch of a new product, there will be teething problems so please bear with us.

Chris Riley has done an incredible job heading up this project and has been helped by a lot of people but special thanks go to Helen Dangerfield, Kay Eggleton and Emma Hall.

Chris will publish a more detailed brief next week when some of the teething problems have been highlighted !

Bill Williams Trophy

The final - and winning log - is from Joy Emmanuel sailing from Cabo Verde to Salvador de Bahia aboard SY Mischief.

Here is the final part of Joys award winning log.

It has been an absolute pleasure to read this log and I think we all take our collective hats off to you !

Printed copies will be available from the re-located library in the Main Room.
